World Cancer Day 2022

Today, 4th of February, is World Cancer Day. In 2021, around 15,000 Australians were diagnosed with bowel cancer – and 1 in 10 new  bowel cancer cases now occur in Australians under age 50. This disease is Australia’s second deadliest cancer, but it is also one of the most treatable cancers if caught early.

Last month, a dear friend lost her battle, at the age of 32.

This image, Sunrise mist in the valley, was part of the last set of images I took before her passing, and the first that I’ve been able to concentrate on processing after. I’ve uploaded it to Pikcha, for sale in a run of 100 editions – all of the artist proceeds after GST for the entire run will be donated to Bowel Cancer Australia in her memory.

If you suspect any symptoms of bowel cancer, please, don’t wait, get tested, don’t take no for an answer if it gets brushed off as something else.
